Data Visualization & Communication Projects

Effective data communication transforms complex information into clear, accessible, and meaningful visual narratives. These projects apply principles of data visualization, information design, visual perception, graphic design, cartography, and data storytelling to communicate environmental, spatial, and quantitative information. Through maps, charts, infographics, interactive visualizations, and scientific graphics, they demonstrate how thoughtful design can reveal patterns, improve understanding, support informed decision-making, and make technical and scientific information more accessible to diverse audiences.

The Fire Is Us

Wildfire Communication Through Data Visualization

Designed an educational infographic exploring relationships among wildfire, climate, ecosystems, and human land management. Synthesized research through information design, visual hierarchy, illustration, mapping, and science communication to create an accessible visual narrative. The project examines the ecological role  of fire, the historical suppression of many Indigenous cultural burning practices, and contemporary prescribed burning as a land management strategy. Through maps, illustrations, and data visualizations, the infographic communicates interconnected perspectives on wildfire resilience, ecosystem stewardship, and environmental decision-making.

Interactive Data Visualization with Flourish

Web-Based Data Storytelling & Exploration

Designed interactive data visualizations using Flourish to transform complex datasets into engaging, web-based experiences. Collected publicly available datasets from Canadian and U.S. sources, organized and prepared data in Microsoft Excel, and developed interactive charts, maps, and animations to communicate trends, patterns, and relationships. Applied principles of visual hierarchy, information design, and data storytelling to encourage exploration while improving the accessibility of quantitative information for diverse audiences. Published and integrated the visualizations into a Wix website to create an interactive digital communication experience.
